This translation material is extracted from Ecological Ethics:An Introduction written by Patrick Curry,with the Preface,Contents,Chapter One and Chapter Two translated by the writer.This paper is written based on the translation of the Contents and Chapter One.As a summary of the translation practice,this paper helps the writer better understand the translation process and translation theories,it can also serve as a reference to those who are to translate texts on ecological ethics in the future.The translation report is composed of four parts.The first part is a general description of the translation task,which includes the source of the translation material,main contents and the significance of the subject.The second part is a general introduction of the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,the selection of translation methods,problems encountered in the revision of the first draft as well as proofreading and polishing.The third part is the main part of this paper: analysis of translation cases.The writer selects many specific cases from vocabulary level,syntax level and discourse level to analyze and point out the corresponding solutions.Five parts are discussed at vocabulary level,namely: terminology,context and vocabulary,verbifying of static expressions,adding category word and emotional colors.Four parts are discussed at the syntax level ranging from parenthesis,long sentences,attributive clause and the voice.Lastly,at the discourse level,the writer discusses the text type and the logic of the text.The last part of this paper is a summary of the translation process,which gives a reflection on the deficiencies existing in the translation process and solutions to these problems.
