The thesis is based on the translation of I belonged to you.The novel I belonged to you was written by Chinese writer Zhang Jiajia, who uses his sincere emotions and vivid languages to evoke emotions from the hearts of readers.There are seven sections, thirty-six independent stories in this novel, among which five have been made into films. The love, family affection and friendship are involved in this translation practice. With the unique and distinctive perspective, the author has used a great number of metaphors to make the story rich and natural.Guided by Eugene A. Nida' s functional equivalence theory and the aesthetic theory of Liu Miqing,the author of the report has analyzed the novel's language,sentence structure and the differences between Chinese and English. During the translation process, the translator has found the unique features of Zhang Jiajia's works.The translator has used specific cases to illustrate the translation methods by combining theories with practice.This report is divided into three chapters. The first is the description of the translation task. From the perspectives of cultural transmission and the globalization of Chinese novels, the translator has introduced the background and the overall goal of the report, as well as the contents of the novel. The second chapter is the translation process,which mainly focuses on the original characters, writing styles and figures of speech. The translator has utilized applicable tools and various translation methods in this process.The third chapter is case analysis. The translator has paid more attention to the aspects such as describing the same Chinese word, the translation of modal particle,amplification, sentence reorganization and aesthetic information. In the conclusion, the translator summarizes the report and reflects on the areas for improvement.Novel translation belongs to literary translation. Through this translation practice,the translator has a deeper understanding of literary translation. Due to the unique language in the novel, the translator thinks that the most difficult task is how to reproduce the original style and deliver the thoughts and feelings of the writer, which calls for solid language skills and in depth analysis.
