On Explicitation In The Subtitle Translation Of Justice From The Perspective Of Skopostheorie

With the advent of the era of multimedia,the idea and practice of distance teaching have undergone great changes,and various instructional resources have permeated into people's daily lives via digital TV and network technology.Among them,the flipped class open courses have become a fashion,which calls for feasible and readable subtitle translations.However,the studies and practices in this field at home and abroad are still in their infancy,and more researches and efforts should be directed to this field.For the above status quo,this thesis chooses Skopostheorie as theoretical support,to probe into the exertion of explicitation in the subtitle translation of Justice.Research methodologies like literature research,qualitative analysis,descriptive method and case study are employed.A comparison is also made between film subtitle translation and open course subtitle translation,to further analyze how explicitation plays its role in open course subtitle translation.This thesis aims to overcome the obstacles of language differences and professional expressions,thus to spread the western open courses to benefit the Chinese audience.This thesis groups explicitation in subtitle translation into four categories,specifically,cultural explicitation,semantic explicitation,discourse explicitation and reduction-based explicitation.Through the case study,the author points out that explicitation penetrates through the whole translation process of open courses.Meanwhile,several translation methods like addition,substitution,annotation and reconstruction are applied respectively in the above four categories,which ensure the faithfulness of the courses and readability for the audience to the most extent.This thesis draws the conclusion that in the translation of films and open courses,blind simplification will inevitably lead to the loss of information,but explicitation helps to enhance the quality of open course subtitle translation under the restraint of subtitle instantaneity,thus to provide new thought and methods for subtitle translation.
