This is a practice report and the translation text is excerpted from the novel Only Beloved(Chapters Seven and Eight).Written by Welsh woman writer Mary Balogh,Only Beloved is available and entertaining to general audience with well-written content and a fascinating plot. The novel has not been translated into Chinese yet, therefore, conforms to the selection criteria of source text. This report analyzes and summarizes the translation difficulties and discusses the methods to resolve the problems,so that it can provide analysis and reference to the future translation activities.Guided by the strategy of domestication, the translator notes down the confusing words and sentences and then translates them according to pre-chosen translation strategy and suitable methods.Dealing with the words with more than one meaning, their specific meanings are decided according to their dictionary explanations in terms of meanings, parts of speech and contexts. With regard to the fluent expression of words in Chinese, the translation method of conversion between parts of speech is applied. On the semantic equivalence, amplification is adopted to represent the latent semantic meaning. At the sentence level, after complex sentences being analyzed, the methods of voice transformation, following the original syntactic order and division are applied. The translation report indicates:translation strategy is of importance as guidance throughout the translation practice. One can not be a good translator with the deficiency of either language because translation is the exchange of two different languages. In addition to the professional knowledge, sincere attitude and constant patience are necessary because translation needs to be revised over and over again to make progress.
