This is a report on the translation ofMarine Plastic Debris & Microplasticsreleased by United Nations Environment Programme in 2016,of which Chapter Nine A selection of different types of measuresand Chapter Ten Risk Assessment and Guideline for Selection Measures are the source text.The source text is about global researches and measures to inspire people to take action to protect our marine environment and provideguidence for the policy-makers.This report presents both short-and long-term approached to the problem of marine plastic debris and microplastics.The main contents of this report are divided into four parts: Part One is the translation project introduction,including translation project background,objectives and significance.Part Two is about the source text of the project,including the introduction of United Nations Environment Programme,and the content of the source text and features of the source text.Part Three is about translation difficulties and methods.The translation difficulties lie in the translation of the chemical terminologies,nouns such as names of places,and long sentences.The theory basis of the project is adaptation theory.The methods include literal translation,addition and omission,and splitting of sentence.Part Four concludes with the lessons,and problems to be solved in the translation project.
