This is a report on the translation ofChapter IIIfrom the book Conference Interpreting: A Complete Course,which is co-authored by Robin Setton and Andrew Dawrant and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company in 2016.This book is consist of 11 chapters,in which the authors give the details introduction about the interpreting as a profession,lay out the prerequisites and specific demand of being a professional interpreter,and then give the readers a systematic guidance to improve their interpreting skills.In this report,Chapter III is selected to be translated,which is about the prerequisites and admission of the interpreting candidates as well as the initiation to interpreting.In the process of this translation report,Newmark'scommunicative translation theory is selected as the fundamental guidance.The whole report consists of four chapters: the first chapter gives a general introduction to the translation project;the second chapter gives an overview on the Newmark'stext typology theory and communicative translation theory,and then analyzes the type of text and characteristics of the source text by combining those two basic theories;the third chapter points out the main problem in the translation process and emphasizes on tackling the difficulty byapplying conversion,division,inversion and syntactic linearity under the guidance of the communicativetheory;and the last chapter makes a conclusion about the translation experience from this project and put forward the problems to be solved in the future.
