Nowadays,as economic activities have been increasing frequently, there are numerous informative texts that need translating.Scholars hold various opinions on the strategies for translation of informative texts. Thus,it is necessary to study the major strategies for translation of such texts. Before translating An Economic Analysis of the National Law Enforcement Museum Project, the author proposed a hypothesis: it is feasible to apply “domestication as the primary strategy and foreignization as the secondary” in the process of translating informative texts. Then, while translating this report, the author made special effort to test and verify the hypothesis.First, this report briefly states the research background, reviews relevant literature, and introduces the design of the experiment.Next, the report analyses such linguistic characteristics of the original text as frequent use of terms, abbreviations, numerals, the passive voice, the future tense and structural cohesion. Then,it proves the feasibility of the hypothesis by employing the methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Finally,it arrives at the conclusion of the experiment: it is possible and effective to apply domestication as the main strategy and foreignization as the secondary while translating informative texts. The thesis emphasizes the feasibility of “domestication as the primary strategy and foreignization as the secondary” in order to ensure “faithfulness”,“expressiveness” and “smoothness” of the version. It also mentions the limitations and aspects to be noted in future studies. This experimental report is intended to prove the feasibility of the hypothesis and to help us readers improve the quality of the translation of informative texts.
