The dialect of the border areas between Meishan City and Leshan City in Sichuan belongs to Southwest Mandarin.According to the previous researches on dialect and related papers,it can be seen that the border areas between Leshan City and Meishan City involve both the branch of the Minjiang river delta and the branch of the Renfu of Guanchi area of Southwest Mandarin, and there are differences between the characteristic of the dialect and Chengdu-Chongqing dialect(Huguang speech). With the knowledge and methods such as phonology, dialectology, experimental phonetics, dialect geography and historical linguistics, this thesis obtains first-hand materials through field study on dialects, analyzes with the help of voice software, and conducts synchronic description on the phonetic systems of seven dialects in Leshan City,Zhongxiang Town of Meishan City,Longzheng Town,Wangyang Town,Yancheng Town,Mata Town,Tianchi Town and Taiping Town, and illustrates their phonological structures horizontally;this thesis also conducts diachronic comparison with Qie Yun(a dictionary of rhymes complied in 601 A.D.),and illustrates the evolution and changes of each phonological structure;then combined with the data such as the history of immigration, this thesis explores the relationship between the dialect and the immigration of this area.It can be seen from the research that among the seven dialects in the border areas of Leshan City and Meishan City, the dialects in Taiping Town,Mata Town,Longzheng Town and Tianchi Town are close to the dialect in Leshan City, keeping the character of “Nanlu speech”2in different degrees. The dialects in Tianchi Town and Mata Town keep most of the characters of “Nanlu speech”,while dialects in Taiping Town and Longzheng Town keep some part of the characters of “Nanlu speech”.For instance, the dialects in Taiping Town,Mata Town and Longzheng Town keep the Ancient Entering Tone, while the Ancient Voice Characters in Tianchi Town have individual pronunciations;the phonetic features of dialects in Zhongxiang Town,Yancheng Town and Wangyang Town are close to Chengdu Dialect, for instance, the mix segmentation of the initials of Ni and Lai reflects the phonetic features of “Huguang speech” as well as the influence of “Huguang speech” on “Nanlu speech”.The innovation of this research is that it breaks up the administrative boundaries of dialects, applies dialect geography into the writing of thesis, and combined with synchronic and diachronic researches and macroscopic and microscopic study,it breaks up the research methods of dialects, and conducts investigation through field study systems and Praat software and so on.The whole thesis is divided into five parts: the first part is the introduction,in which it summarizes the achievements and the location of dialects in this region;in the second part,it introduces the general situation and the current administrative divisions of Leshan city and Meishan City, and explains the object and scope of the study, the materials and symbols used, the method of investigation and the information of the informants;the third part publishes the newly-investigated phonetic systems of seven dialects in Zhongxiang Town,Longzheng Town,Wangyang Town,Yancheng Town,Mata Town,Tianchi Town and Taiping Town, and describes their tones;the fourth part mainly compares the phonological structures and characteristics of seven dialects;in the fifth part, combined with the history of immigration in Ming and Qing Dynasties, the thesis explores the relationship between the dialects of this region and the immigration;and the sixth part is the conclusion.
