Nowadays, economic development has become an epoch topic around the world.China has made remarkable achievements since the reform and the opening up to the rest of the world, China's standing in regards to the economic presence in the world is increased. Its economic policy has stimulated wide-ranging research among scholars abroad. However, few of these researches has been translated into Chinese. Therefore,I choose Capitalism with Chinese Characteristics as source text due to its research value and market demand. On the other hand, translating this economic article into Chinese not only helps translators improve their English proficiency and translation competence, but also provides insight into China's economic policy. This report-analyzes the main style of the source text, puts forward major difficulties encountered in the process of translation and enumerates typical examples from the source text. This report mainly includes the following five parts: Chapter one presents a detailed introduction to the source text and the author as well as the significance of this translation and objectives. Chapter two analyzes features of the source text at lexical, syntactical and stylistic levels. Also in this chapter,I elaborate my translation stage including comprehension, reproduction and proofreading. Chapter three presents the translation theories adopted in this report and its guiding significances. Then, Chapter four presents main difficulties as well as solutions for translation under the guidance of functional equivalence theory. In this translation process, I adopt amplification, inversion and domestication. The final part-Chapter five combining the theory and translator's own attempts, this report discusses the difficulties and solutions during the process of translating an economic text, and draws inspiration and lessons.
