This report is mainly on Chinese to English consecutive interpreting.The author is honored to undertake the consecutive interpreting for 2016 Standardized Seminar on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction for ASEAN Countries on October 20th,2016.It is an important program for China-ASEAN exchanges and cooperation.With the upgrading of China-ASEAN FTA,the ASEAN countries gradually tend to bring in energy conservation and emission reduction techniques from other countries.Therefore,the 2016 Standardized Seminar on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction for ASEAN Countries is held,aiming to introduce China's new techniques,development and construction of energy conservation and emission reduction,to help cultivate excellent talents in this field for ASEAN countries,and to promote the transfer of China-ASEAN energy conservation and emission reduction techniques and the mutual accreditation in standardization.The 2016 Seminar involves participants from the related fields and institutions from Cambodia,Myanmar,Laos,and Vietnam.The report,as an analysis and conclusion,mainly includes four parts:task description,pre-interpreting preparation,case study and conclusion.The first chapter is task description,which includes background of the seminar and the details of the task.The second chapter is pre-interpreting preparation,which includes cloud preparation,middle-term preparation and short-term preparation.Cloud preparation refers to collecting information and understanding background knowledge.Middle-term preparation refers to the preparation after receiving materials from the organizer.Short-term preparation refers to the preparation for clothes,printed materials,time and on-site articles.The third chapter is case study,which includes analysis of terminology,the interpreter's role as a mediator and null subject sentences.The interpreter's role as a mediator is reflected on logic combing and reasonable concision.From the analysis of these three aspects,the author has a deeper understanding of consecutive interpreting and the role of an interpreter.The last part is conclusion.Through the practice,the author has better known interpreting.Besides,a self-evaluation is made,during which the author finds her strengths and weaknesses in interpreting.It is hoped that she could move forward based on this practice.This report aims to reflect on the author's performance for improvement.Hopefully it may provide reference for other interpreters.
