Interpreters have been expected to deliver accurate, complete, and faithful renditions, which is what is called interpreting norms. However,in real conference settings, there are lots of different stakeholders involved in the real conference settings. In some cases, the interpreting norms are not in line with the expectations of certain stakeholder.Under such circumstances, interpreters are required to meet certain expectations from different stakeholders involved. In this report, the author, based on his interpreting practice at Educational Leadership Learning Exchange, and the feedback from his client, describes his confusions, how he addressed his confusions through relevant researches and readings, his findings and his efforts to prove his findings through the analysis on parallel recordings, his analysis on his interpreting performance. Finally, through researches and proof, the author came to the conclusion that interpreters, when it is necessary, should serve as a mediator in consecutive interpreting by means of extended renditions, reduced renditions and substituted renditions. It is hoped that the report can provide useful reference for similar interpreting practices in the future.
