A Report On E-C Translation Of Chemicals Without Harm: Policies For A Sustainable World (Excerpts)

The rapid development of chemical industry has made a great contribution to the material civilization of human society.It not only has enriched people's lives,but also has improved the quality of people's lives.China's economic development is more and more dependent on chemistry.However,with the continuous development of chemical industry,some harmful chemicals pose a threat to the safety of human life and the ecological balance of nature,which is not good for the sustainable development of the world.This paper is a report on E-C translation of sustainable development strategy of harmless chemicals.There are five chapters in this text,including the chemical industry,policy,management,security and other fields.The translator chooses the fifth chapter of the book,Chemicals without Harm,as the content of translation.The selected material gives a detailed introduction to the sustainable development strategy of the harmless chemicals.This text belongs to informative text type and the purpose is to convey real and objective information to the public.I choose Newmark's communicative translation theory as the guidance of my translation process.The key of communicative translation is to convey information,and to let the reader think,feel and act.The paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is an introduction of the translating task including the backgrounds,writing styles and language features of the original text and the theory used in the report.The second chapter is a description of the translation process including preparations,detailed translation process and proofreading.Chapter three analyzes the specific cases of translation under the guidance of communicative translation theory and tells of the specific strategies and methods adopted to deal with the important and difficult points during the translation process.Chapter four is the conclusion of the whole task,it summarizes the fruitful gains achieved by the translator on one hand,and points out the deficiencies in the translation process on the other hand.The report summarizes the linguistic characteristics of the text and proposes corresponding translation strategies after analyzing various translation cases.The sustainable development strategy of harmless chemicals is of great significance to the sustainable development of the world.Through the study of such problems,we can promote the cultural communication between China and western countries and provide reference information for the researchers in their study of this kind of text.
