This thesis is an English-Chinese translation report, and the source text is taken from the work of Susan Page, the famous American writer,If I'm so wonderful, why am I still single?(Part I)It is a book on love psychology, and it provides people guidance at the Information Age,especially improves their intimate relationships. The book is oriented to people who are still singles and divorced.According to Newmark's classification of text types, the source text belongs to the vocative text. When the author delivers the information to readers, she focuses more on the reaction and feeling of the readers, and aims at persuading target readers to follow the strategies she put forward.During the translation process, the translator, under the guidance of Newmark's theory on text typology and communicative translation, analyzes the translation practice from two levels—the lexical and syntactic level — and uses different translation methods, including addition, omission, conversion in parts of speech, division and inversion.Through this translation practice, the translator keenly realizes that translation is by no means an easy thing. Therefore, more efforts should be made in the future.Besides, the translator has gained a deeper understanding of the theory, which will be a great guidance for her translation practices in the future.
