Literature is an important part in the cultural exchanges between China and the West.There are a great deal of literary works in various countries,and people’s demands for accuracy and timeliness of translation are getting higher and higher.Under the background of the rapid development of information technology and artificial intelligence technology,computer-aided translation software has been developed,which has become an effective assistant to human translation.Taking The Sand Castle,written by Lanford Wilson who is an American playwright as translation material,with the help of SDL Trados Studio 2017,this translation practice report aims to solve the specific problems encountered in the translation progress,thus improving the quality and efficiency of translation.Drama translation is a special field in the study of literature translation.However,it is hard for SDL Trados Studio 2017 to handle the special factors such as situation,performability,emotion and unique language style so that specific strategies and skills are required for the translation.Therefore,this translation practice report will explore the advantages and disadvantages of computer-aided translation for drama translation in order to search for the appropriate translation methods for drama.This translation practice report introduces the source of translation material,content analysis of the original text and its characteristics as well as the whole process of translation guided by SDL Trados Studio 2017.Besides,the examples in the translation of The Sand Castle are analyzed.In addition,this report explores the advantages and disadvantages of translation by SDL Trados Studio 2017,and seeks for the specific translation methods to handle the difficulties in the translation progress.Finally,the author has summarized the experience and shortcomings in this translation practice with SDL Trados Studio 2017,and put forward certain views on the translation of dramatic texts.
