An exploration of the literature shows that fun and enjoyment have beendiscussed in relation to the learning ofchildren and older adults.Creativity in children is thought to be stimulated by fun and humour,when the brain ismore relaxed and is less bound by rules(Light,2002).The role of fun and enjoyment is seen as a natural andimportant part of the learning process for children.Hromek and Roffey(2009)explain that there is a ‘naturalaffiliation between children,play,and the desire to have fun' which makes games an ideal vehicle for teaching'(p.626)Funny learning approach(FL)is a fun learning which is used to increase student interest and achievement.Through the FL teaching approach teacher delivers material in an easy and funny way.Therefore authors are interested in implementing learning strategies with a deep FL approach practice while teaching in Akademi Pariwisata middle school.The formulation of the problem is about how to improve students' learning interest in learning mandarin and obstacles that occur during implementation along with the ways to solve the problem.In addition,the goal is to know that the FL approach can increase students' interest in Mandarin language.Teacher delivers FL learning materials using different ways such as singing,guessing,and Role playing among other.This approach can increase the enthusiasm of learning,so students can be more interactive than ever.The results of a satisfactory evaluation show that through the FL approach,students prefer learning Mandarin language more,and students' achievements in learning increased.The FL approach is one of the variations in the learning strategy which deliver the subject matter by combining questions and answers method with fun and creativity.Assessment should not be rigid,it should have a variation,for example by written evaluation,singing,and speaking evaluation.There are several obstacles that occur during language learning activities,but all problems can be solved.
