The Translation Of Words And Complex Sentences In Cultural Academic Text

The selected practice text come from the part of Introduction in Introduction to American Studies.The book of Introduction to American Studies is a cultural material,consisting of some academic papers by some foreign experts and scholars.The book mainly has an investigation from the discovery of America to the establishment of the United States,as well as the development of politics,economy,culture and other aspects of the United States.The purpose of this report is to analyze the problems in the translation of such academic texts and to present the author's own solution to these problems.This translation practice report is divided into four parts.The first part is the task description,mainly introducing the selected text and the meaning of the topic;The second part introduces the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,problems and solution during the process and post-translation proofread.The third part is the case study,which is the main part of this report.Choosing words and complex sentences as the entry point,the author uses some concrete examples to classify the problems,such as name of people and places,other words,attributive clauses,subject clauses and adverbial clauses.Then the author discusses the treatment of these problems.The fourth part is a summary,including both the summary of the contents of the first three parts and the summary of author's experience in the translation process.
