C-E Translation Studies On The Complex Sentences In Chinese Business Contracts

As a specific genre in translation,translation of contracts plays an important role in foreign trade.The author translated a contract for E-logistics services from Chinese to English authorized by a company during the studying term of postgraduate.The process of this translation went through a first draft,revision,to a final version.The author has found out that complex sentences take a larger part in Chinese business contracts through her own translation practice.Therefore,it is decisive to give a correct translation of Chinese complex sentences in reproducing Chinese contracts.The author firstly gives a definition on Chinese complex sentences by way of categorizing them and analyzing their features.Thus,relative words may be explicitly or implicitly used in the sub-clause of different kinds of complex sentences.On the basis of these words,logic relationship between sub-clauses will be further analyzed.Secondly,the author analyzes the complex sentences in this Chinese contract subject to the former categorization and features of Chinese complex sentences.Thirdly,together with the case in practice,the author illustrates some mistakes of translation of complex sentences in the Chinese contracts by way of the differences between Chinese contracts and English contracts,analyzes reasons of these mistakes,and proposes relevant translation methods.Finally,the author generalizes the whole paper and makes a conclusion.
