The translation practice is About Translation written by Peter Newmark and published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press in 2006.The wholetext translation is divided into 13 chapters and translated by five students,of which chapter 3,chapter 4 and chapter 5 are translated by the author.About Translation is an academic proceeding about translation,which is the rational analysis of problems related to translation on the basis of translation practice,including the role of translation in language teaching,translation training,the cultivation and quality of translators and interpreters,and the review of translation of the world in 1980 s and others problems related to translation.By translating this book,we can enrich our translation theories and improve our translation skills.At the same time,it offers a systematic and comprehensive knowledge to people who are engaged in translation.In addition,this book also discusses the cultivation and quality of translators,which provides a standard for us to cultivate qualified translators.The book is an academic proceeding on translation with wide range of subjects and involves all kinds of problems in translation,thus the source text belongs to informative text.In this translation practice,the author adopts Peter Newmark's translation typology as the theoretic basis and communicative translation as translation strategy to guide the whole translation process.Communicative translation theory stresses that the effect of the TT on the readers is equal to the effect of ST on its readership.Combined with translation theory,the report analyzes the problems and difficulties in the process of translation in terms of lexical,syntax,text and culture.It also discusses translation strategies and skills,such as conversion,division and recasting.By analyzing the key points and difficulties,the translator summarizes the experience and problems to be solved during translation.By doing this translation,the translator learn that we should consciously apply translation theories and techniques to guide our translation practice.
