This report, taking the author's English-Chinese interpreting practice about the 2016 China Conference of the Chinese Economists Society as the example, tries to conclude her experiences in interpreting by taking use of interpretive theory.Scholars of this school insist that translation is not a unidirectional decoding operation, but a dynamic process in which the interpreter makes sense of the source message and reformulate the message in the target language. So,interpreters would like to adopt various strategies to express the information again, with the aim of making listeners understand the speaker better.Researches indicate that,as thus there are kinds of shifts in the interpreting output.Shifts, frequently appearing in translation and interpretation, mean that there are some differences between target text and source text. However, for purpose of information integrity, interpreters frequently make shifts in the process of interpreting.Shifts can be mainly divided into three types: omission, substitution and amplification.Omission does not equal to a reduction in meaning;on the contrary, suitably adopting the strategy can ensure accuracy.Substitution means to replace the concept in source text with another one better accepted by target audiences. When code transference fails to fully express the meaning of the source text, adopting the strategy of amplification can make listeners understand the information more effectively. The author summarizes the shifts appearing in the process of interpreting.Combining interpretive theory, she analyzes shifts, puts forward the three interpreting strategies, and sums up the importance of adopting those strategies.During the process of interpreting, the author realized that an interpreter can't focus on the form of source text, and in some degree shifts have positive impacts on the output. This report provides cases for interpreting researches and references for interpreting practices.
