In this paper,I choose the primary Chinese textbook New Practical Chinese Reader(1,2)as the research objects,Xu Shen’s ShuoWenJieZi and Li Xueqin’s ZiYuan as the reference books,to study 738 Chinese characters of their form classification and original meaning.At the same time,combining with the content of texts,I would make analysis of new words of the original meaning and extended meaning or usage under the guise of righteousness.From the perspectives of the relationship between form and meaning,I will put forward the corresponding teaching suggestions on the teaching Chinese characters to foreigners.The main body of this paper is as follows:Chapter One expounds the significance of the topic,reviews the teaching process and research methods of Chinese characters.Chapter Two takes Xu Shen’s ShuoWenJieZi and Li Xueqin’s ZiYuan as the reference books,to study 738 Chinese characters of their shape classification and original meaning in the form of Xiangxing,Zhishi,Huiyi and Xingsheng.Chapter Three makes the analysis of 738 new words of the original meaning and extended meaning or usage under the guise of righteousness,combining with the content of texts.Chapter Four makes the conclusion and provides the suggestions.
