The teaching concept of student-centered has been the main focus of the reform of education and teaching in modern higher vocational colleges.In order to motivate students to master knowledge and apply it flexibly,and develop the students' ability to analyze and solve problems,the application of problem-based learning(PBL)approach has become a well-known teaching idea.This study focuses on the application of PBL teaching method in the course Introduction To British And American Culture for English major students in Higher Vocational colleges to reform the traditional teaching mode.First,the author investigates the current teaching situation of Introduction To British And American Culture for English students in the college,and finds out the reason why students are lack of interests and their learning efficiency is so poor,then introduces PBL teaching method into the classroom teaching of the experimental class to improve the teaching quality.The author reforms the current teaching situation of Introduction To British And American Culture by arranging teaching links reasonably,giving full play to students' subjective initiative,strengthening the guiding role of teachers and so on.The teaching experiment has been carried out nearly one-year,only to find that PBL teaching method is available and practical.At last,the author proposes some corresponding measures against the remaining existing problems,in the hope of providing some referential suggestions for the teaching of Introduction To British And American Culture in Higher Vocational Colleges.
