A Report On The Simulation Consecutive Interpretation For The Opening Ceremony Of 2017 China Ocean Academic Annual Meeting

The material for this simulated interpreting report was selected from the opening ceremony of the 2017 China Ocean Academic Annual Meeting.The China Ocean Academic Annual Meeting is a grand event for the Chinese marine academic community.It is a good platform for them to display academic achievements and exchange academic viewpoints.The theme of this year's annual meeting is "China's marine science and technology led by innovation-driven development." This opening ceremony only has Chinese version.It didn't have English interpreters.In order to let the foreign friends,have a better understanding of the development of China's marine science,the author conducted a simulated interpreting practice after the meeting.For this practical activity,the author adopted the format of the consecutive interpretation.After the completion of the practical activity,the author summarized the practice experience and formed a practical report for it.This practical report consists of five parts: the background,the pre-translation preparation,the description of the simulated interpreting process,the case analysis and the summary.This practice report is guided by the theory of Paris interpretation and it use the case analysis method to summarize the shortcomings in the process of practice in order to improve the author's interpreting ability and to share his experience with other interpreters.
