Located in the heartland of Eurasia, Central Asia is well a bridge and a link to connect the East and the West, the North and South. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, because of its important geopolitical strategic position and rich resources, the Central Asia quickly becomes the focus of attention of great powers. As a world power, the United States by taking its own advantages began to penetrate this "vacuum" zone, with an attempt to include the Central Asia in its influence of power. In the specific process of carrying out its strategies, the United States in Bush Administration began to strengthen its penetrating strategy in Central Asia, with an attempt to control this important area by taking obvious offensive strategic posture, actively supporting independence of the Central Asia countries from the Soviet Union. Till the Clinton Administration, the United States began to take obvious political intervention in the Central Asia through the so-called "American democracy" transformation in the Central Asian countries to achieve its strategic objectives. However, the intervention measures taking by the United States met strong rebound from the Central Asian countries, not only preventing the U.S. further deepening its influence in such a region and the Central Asian countries, but causing these countries more dependent on Russia. To George W. Bush came to power, the United States changed its direct intervention in Central Asia, with an attempt to restore America's image in Central Asia, and began to take covered intervention strategy from direct intervention to support agents for Color Revolution to achieve its ambition of hegemony.Since Obama came to power, due to its own domestic factors, the United States was economically unable to invest more resources; Politically, the domestic group interest struggle made it hard to reach consensus; In social public opinion, the U.S. Government was strongly opposed by the public. The Obama Administration's strategy to Central Asia, on one hand, continued the long-established policies pursued by the U.S. Governments in Central Asia of supporting independence, promoting democracy, color revolution, etc. On the other hand, the Obama Administration put forward "Afghanistan and Pakistan" strategy centered on political, military and anti-terrorism as the cores, and "New Silk Road Vision" with economic integration as the purpose of the plan. However, in the process of the implementation of its strategy in Central Asia during Obama Administration, the United States also faces many risks and challenges, including Afghanistan's vague status as a regional hub. Meanwhile, an important purpose of the U.S. strategy in Central Asia is to exclude countries such as Russia and China's influence in the region, but it has ignored the important role played by the two countries in Central Asia. Secondly, the terrorist forces from the region and the influence of social factors make the U.S. Central Asia strategy face embarrassed problems from home and abroad. Overall, the U.S. strategic change in Central Asia will put a significant impact on international pattern, the situation in Central Asia, the relations among the United States, Russia, China and other countries, worthy of enough attention and further research.
