As a subject, high school ideological and political education course has very strong theoretical character and practicalness. In the process of curriculum reform of basic education, the characteristic of the compulsory textbook Economic Life for the students in senior one requires the teacher to be much closer to students' life in the process of preparing lessons and teaching. The teacher not only makes the students master the theoretical knowledge of the textbook Economic Life, but also cultivates the students' ability to think, analyze and solve the economic problems in their practical life. Therefore, it is imperative to adopt some new teaching methods in the specific teaching process. As a kind of case teaching method, “what a case teaching” has the characteristics of clear regulation, in-depth analysis, motivating students' learning interest, etc. and shows great advantages among teaching methods. In recent years, “what a case teaching” method is widely used in basic education teaching. Due to various reasons, there are some confusion and insufficiencies for the application of the teaching method in specific teaching practice. Combined with his own teaching practice and the relevant teaching research, the author studies the application of “what a case teaching” method in PEP edition high school ideological and political education course Economic Life from the perspectives of theoretical and practical aspects.Firstly, based on the related theoretical and practical studies at home and abroad, the paper explains the connotations of “what a case teaching” teaching method and its characteristics of consistency, enlightening and practicalness.Secondly, the paper analyzes that the use of “what a case teaching” method in Economic Life is in accordance with psychological characteristics of high school students and new curriculum reform spirit; meanwhile, there also exists the limitation that the teaching method occupies too much time of the students in the application process.Thirdly, the paper discusses the problems that shall pay attention to in specific teaching of PEP edition high school ideological and political education course Economic Life by using “what a case teaching” method from three aspects, respectively, preparations before the class, class application, after-class teaching reflection.Finally, the paper mainly discusses the problem that “what a case teaching” method lacks case pertinence and students make light of the subject in current teaching. In allusion to these problems, the paper tries to put forward four feasible suggestions, which include teachers' collective lesson preparation to develop cases together, correctly handling the relations with other teaching methods, improving teachers' quality and correctly guiding the students for effective participation.
