School is a cultural symbol in the community with which it has the inseparable relationship.Several factors of the community contributed to a series of problems relating to school education, but school found it difficult to cope with these problems on its own, Especially for the rural school, it is quite impossible to change the educational present situation only depending on its own revolution. Therefore, only with the help of the society of the community can school be associated with community efficiently. In this way both sides gain mutual benefits in many aspects and even promote the common development. There is much in Japanese experience in the fusion of school and community that we can make use of and learn from.Japan has been experienced in the fusion of school and community for more than ten years, which varied from some exchange of resource to the partial fusion. As a consequence, a better situation has been created, where the society of community goes all out to support school, in return, school brings benefit to community. Based on some literature about the fusion of school and community in China and Japan, this article summarizes theoretical principles and development history and later introduces two kinds of practical types-open school and community-run school. Take for example the two cases of Izari and Kyoto. The former is a remote countryside, the latter is an ordinance-designated city. The emphasis is put on introducing the content of the fusion of school and community from two aspects, that is, activity and institutionalization. At the end of the article, I summarize and get the hints from the experience of the fusion of school and community in Japan and create the construction patterns of rural education in China, such as establishing the concept of community education, expanding the democratization of administration, constructing the security mechanism of evaluation, setting up the practical supporting organizations, and creating patterns of local characteristic.
