| Classroom teaching evaluation is not only an integral part of modern classroom teaching, but also a critical step of educational reform. It is very meaningful to investigate and formulate a scientific and reasonable classroom teaching evaluation for assisting all-round development of students and promoting professional growth of teachers. In this paper, the application of Rubric, a new conception of classroom teaching evaluation, was adopted after the new curriculum reform.The object of this study was four classes of Grade One in XXX Junior Middle School where the writer works. In this school, it was the first time to introduce Rubric into class as an important way of classroom teaching evaluation. The application of Rubric was thoroughly analyzed by the way of expert interview, case study, questionnaire, etc.After consulting relative references, the interview outline was developed according to the collected information. The interview was implemented to interviewee teachers in respects to evaluation consciousness, attitude, subject,procedure and standard. Induction and result analysis of the interview arrived at last. The result showed that most of the teachers agreed on the idea that the Rubric was an evaluation method with student as the evaluation subject,focusing on the evaluation of learning procedure and leading by student’s activities. Educational experts and administrators also held active attitudes toward Rubric. All these indicated that this study was feasible. Questionnaire for students was conducted after this research implemented three months.Results of the questionnaire showed: students were active about Rubric,86.3% of them thought Rubric was completely necessary for classroom teaching evaluation while 13.7% thinks in opposite; self-learning ability is improved, 73.5% of them thought that they could finish their assignmentsindependently by referring Rubric while 13.6% thought not and other 12.9%felt that they could finish occasionally; learning interest was increased, 69.3%of the student felt they were more interested in biology class after Rubric was introduced; experimental ability was improved, 86.3% of them thought using Rubric was more operable during experiment while 12.3% thought not and other 0.14% thought it was indifferent. By comparing and analyzing of biology test score of all students before and after this study, it was found that the average score, pass rate and excellent rate of experimental class was higher than other classes with the number of 3.07 points, 5.48% and19.77%.These were the positive evidence of the improvement of students’ performance and classroom teaching effectiveness.In conclusion, classroom teaching effectiveness is enhanced, learning ability of the students is improved, learning interest is increased, operational ability is developed and new interactive mode between teachers and students is built after application of Rubric. Benefits between teachers and students are realized by discussion, evaluation and feedback during the whole process.Abilities of the students’ learning and teacher’s teaching are both improved.Rubric plays an accelerating role in the implementation of the new curriculum reform. |
