Major is an important support for colleges and universities to realize three elemental functions of talent cultivation, scientific research and social service. To make scientific and reasonable professional structure adjustment is a fundemental path for colleges and universities to fully adapt to social needs and human development needs, to improve the level of professional construction and talent training quality, to reflect the school localization and highlight school running characteristics. However, the professional setting of the university is mainly based on the level of social and economic development, which is restricted by the social development. By further analysing the coordination between professional setting and social development and drawing lessons from scholars' academic studies,this paper illustrates that there exists a kind of interactive relationship between undergraduate professionnal setting and social development after studying historical data of domestic undergraduate professional setting and talent demand data,and then contributes to provide some ideas and methods for our undergraduate professionna setting to better adapt to our social development.This paper is mainly divided into five parts. The first part is introduction,including research background, domestic and foreign related research status of professional settings and social needs, research purpose and methods, the definition of related concepts. The second part,theoretical basis of this study,introduces the bases and factors of major establishment in our colleges and universities.The third part is the situation analysis of the undergraduate specialties and social demands in China.From the situation of professional setting and social demand for talent in two aspects of the status quo analysis.Taken Jiangxi Normal University as an example,the fourth part makes a further demonstration of the relationship between specialty and social development and and instructs the coordination between the professional setting and social development by combining the specialty status of Jiangxi Normal University.As for the last part,practical and reasonable suggestions are provided for dealing with the relationship between specialties and social development in Jiangxi Normal University.
