Since we entered the new century, the cross-strait relations have reached an unprecedented height. With the increasingly frequent political, economic, social and cultural communications, peaceful development, mutual benefit and win-win strategy have become the characteristics of cross-strait relations in a new period. Throughout the development of the cross-strait relations, it is not hard to find that the identity of the Chinese nation has always played a vital role in it and it has become a crucial factor for affecting the cross-strait relations. It is especially important to cultivate the identity of the Chinese nation of the new generation of teenagers in Taiwan because this matters the future development of the cross-straits relations. The existence of the separatist forces in Taiwan has led to the deviation of cognition of parts of Taiwan compatriots on the identity of the Chinese nation. Therefore, analyzing the identity of the Chinese nation of Taiwan compatriots, the new generation of teenagers in Taiwan in particular, is of very important theoretical and practical significance.History subject is a subject which not only carries the historical memories but also inherits the historical cultures, and it is an indispensable factor to shape the identity of the Chinese nation of Taiwan teenagers. Taking history textbooks, the core teaching materials of history courses in Taiwan as research object, I intend to research on the identity of the Chinese nation in the Han Lin-edition high-school history textbooks from the ethnic, historical and cultural levels by adopting documentary research method and text analysis method. And I expect, through this research, to have a better and deeper understanding of the potential tendency of the identity of the Chinese nation in Taiwan's history education, and this research will contribute to the more comprehensive understanding of the influence on populace psychology made by history education in Taiwan. This research, made from the standpoint of the unity of the Chinese nation, aims to promote the understanding on the historical culture of the Chinese nation of the masses and teenagers in both Taiwan and mainland and enhance the consistent national emotions of cross-strait compatriots through the study on the identity of the Chinese nation in the history textbooks.Through the research, I found the identity of the Chinese nation in the history textbooks are affected by similarities and diversities, so it presents conflicted national identity emotions. On one hand, the textbooks are written from the standpoint of the Chinese nation and they have not diverged from the mainstream historical trajectories, which is worth approving. Especially the description of the consistent culture and common history of Taiwan and mainland is beneficial for cultivating the identity of the Chinese nation of middle school students. On the other hand, these inaccurate ways of narration, contents and wording existing in the textbooks will not only easily mislead students in their understanding of history but also do harm to the construction of their identity of the Chinese nation. Therefore, it is an expectation for the writers of the textbooks to review these problems and cultivate the positive identity of the Chinese nation of teenagers properly by conducting history education from the standpoint of the Chinese nation.
