Chinese contemporary prose favored by readers because of its unique structure, exquisite language, profound conception and distinct ages characteristics. In the volume one to five high school Chinese textbooks(compulsory), which are published by People's Education Press, prose have a big proportion, some are expressing emotions by describing scenery, some describing people or matters or some are express ambitions by argumentation. These prose are all with great quality written by many famous prosers, they carry the smack of life and the depth of history. Learning Chinese contemporary prose not only makes students gain Chinese ability but also can promote personality, feel conception, cultivate taste, motivate interest in learning prose, promote love of mother tongue and lay a foundation for lifelong development. But, there exists some problems hinder the practicing of prose education's goal in the teaching of Chinese contemporary prose in high school. Therefore, it is very important to analysis the proportion, requirement and teaching position of Chinese contemporary prose in high school Chinese education, have a survey about the current teaching situation of Chinese contemporary prose in high school and discuss the teaching strategy about Chinese contemporary prose inhigh school.The introduction of this essay briefly describes the background and significance of studying Chinese contemporary prose in high school, the current situation of the study in China and the content and way to do the study. The main body of the essay can be divided into three parts. The first part is about a brief understanding of Chinese contemporary prose in high school education. After having a acquaintance of new curriculum standard and exam outlines, taking the PEP Chinese textbook for example, it sorts the amount, proportion and characteristic of Chinese contemporary prose in the textbook and analysis the important status of Chinese contemporary prose in teaching. The second part mainly describes the current situation of Chinese contemporary prose in teaching. The writer found the problems of Chinese contemporary prose in teaching by questionnaire and interviewing the front line teachers. The problems are prose's utilitarian teaching, the ignorance of text interpretation, the trite model of teaching, low attentions of students and the abuse of multimedia. The third part is the discussion of the teaching strategy of Chinese contemporary prose. This essay put forward five teaching strategies, including enhance the text interpretation, optimize the teaching method, change the evaluation system, promote students' attention and make good use of the multimedia according to the problems of Chinese contemporary prose in high school education.
