The author thinks that in the process of the development of secondary vocational school in China, schools should not only emphasize the scale of the school, but also value the improvement of teaching quality. According to investigation, many secondary vocational schools still stick to obsolete and traditional teaching modes. Etiquette is no exception. Many secondary vocational schools still use traditional teaching methods in etiquette teaching without considering students' needs or combining theory and practice. It results in failure in etiquette teaching. Poor implementation of etiquette teaching goals, undiversified teaching methods and assessment and unscientific teaching contents challenge present etiquette teaching, so reform is imperative.Gardener's multiple intelligence theory emphasizes the diversity of students' intelligence, which may help to change traditional view of students, teaching and assessment. Students' multiple intelligence must be emphasized in order to promote the effectiveness of etiquette teaching in students professional quality and ability. Using multiple intelligence theory to develop students' potential has been proved to be successful in basic education reform, but it has not been put into practice in secondary vocational school except some basic courses. Nowadays, secondary vocational school etiquette teaching which is based on multiple intelligence theory is still in exploratory stage and there is no specialized and systematic study. So it is urgent to carry on further and systematic research on secondary vocational school etiquette teaching which is based on multiple intelligence theory. As an etiquette teacher in secondary vocational school, the author uses multiple intelligence theory to instruct her etiquette teaching for students majoring in traffic management. Students' multiple intelligence is emphasized in setting goals, choosing teaching contents, implementing teaching methods and assessment in etiquette teaching. Meanwhile, because human being's intelligence is dynamic, the author suggests that the teacher should pay attention to students' feedback and make corresponding adjustment according to changes in social environment. The teacher should develop students' undiscovered or closed intelligence and perfect their preponderant intelligence by improving teaching methods and widening range of teaching activities. Practice in secondary vocational school etiquette teaching under the instruction of multiple intelligence will help secondary vocational school students to improve their etiquette accomplishment, build up their self-confidence and improve their interpersonal communication ability.
