Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy,the design industry has made a great achievement in China,especially in new century.With the rapid development of knowledge economy,design has been playing more and more important role in modern society.As a result,the phenomenon that little attention was used to be attached to arts or design has been greatly improved and design education has been valued a lot in talent training.Particularly with the deep development of new curriculum reform,the traditional model of art education could no longer cater for the requirements of talent training.As the rapid development of China's design industry,the cultivation of the consciousness of design in secondary school has become more and more important.Actually it has played the vital role in training students' design thinking,creativity and comprehensive humanistic quality.Nevertheless,the current situation of cultivating the consciousness of design is not optimistic.It contains issues like little education input,serious shortage of teachers,insufficient teaching facilities,lack of professional knowledge of design and failure to effectively play the value of the curriculum.Then how are we going to strengthen the cultivation of the consciousness of design in art education in secondary schools to play its advantages? A deep research needs to be done.Through project work,out laggard educational concept could be changed,new suitable education system and mode will be constructed,new teaching methods will be discussed.With various teaching methods,students will be motivated to observe and perceive things with creative thinking;their creativity,team work,aesthetic ability,hands-on skill and comprehensive quality will be trained as well.This article adopted many research methods,such as literature synthesis,contrastive analysis and investigation,to find,raise and solve questions.First a comprehensive research has been done regarding national education reform,together with current situation of the development of art and design education,the relevant study background and the significant of this research has been introduced;then through comparing different education concepts and training methods nationally and internationally,a suggestion has been made to learn from the outstanding training experiences of design education abroad and explore the one suitable for our education development,from the definition of design and consciousness of design to the issues need to be solved,the significance of the consciousness of design in secondary arteducation was revealed,relevant strategies were made as well;finally a macro conclusion has been drawn up based on the core value of the cultivation of the consciousness of design in art education.Hopefully this article could contribute to how to cultivate the consciousness of design in secondary art education.
