The concept of “core competencies system” was proposed by the Ministry of Education in 2014.and having core competencies are also considered an important education goal in the revised curriculum standards for normal senior high schools.On September 13,2016,Beijing Normal University,together with nearly a hundred specialists from universities and colleges,proposed that the core competencies of Chinese students include three aspects(culture basics,self-directed development and social involvement),six levels(including humanistic connotations and scientific spirit ect.),and 18 key points(including humanistic accumulations and humanistic feelings ect.).Core competencies are cultivated by subject teaching In school.The core competencies of physics subject include physical concepts,scientific thinking,experimental inquiry,and scientific attitude and responsibility.Core competencies are the main embodiment of qualities to be developed in the new period and are the common requirement for self-develop of students and progress of society.Physics teachers should cultivate students' core competencies in their daily teaching of physics.Physics concepts are developed by learning physics knowledge and practicing physics methods and skills in the current physics classroom,by the way,scientific thinking such as analysis and synthesis,inference and demonstration,and model construction is cultivated effectively.But,there isn't enough attention paied to developing such competencies as critical thinking,questioning and innovating,experimental inquiry,self-study ability,and love of life.In response to all of the problems,under the guidance of constructivism and humanism,the group discussion is employed to cultivate students' physics core competencies.The group discussion is employed in Class 2015-7.There cases to explain how to cultivate physicsl core competencies in theory class,exercise class,and application class are cited.They were observed and analyzed during the practice in one semester,later a questionnaire survey among the students was conducted.With data analysis,It's concluded that group discussion as a teaching model in the physics classroom of senior high schools can help students form their scientific thinking,develop their inquiry awareness,and build their idea of lifelong learning,thus contributing to the development of their core competencies.
