With the development of times,in order to meet the level of global education development,China has carried out the basic education reform at the beginning of this century.Language as an important part of basic education,requires students to have a good overall Chinese literacy.Many studies have found that the important development stage of students' language ability is in the primary school period,and the growth rate of reading ability of students in the senior grade year is gradually slowing down.However the students in junior grade are at the beginning to come into contact with all kinds of knowledge,the level of capacity development being in the initial stage,so their various capabilities are not formed.Therefore,the key period of cultivating and developing students' abilities,including reading ability which be paid attention to,lies in middle grade.The most way people getting effective information is by reading,so emphasis on cultivation of reading ability,can not only help to enrich students' language literacy,but also to form the foundation for students' lifelong learning by making reading as one of their learning skills.Therefore,it's urgent to study the Chinese reading ability development of secondary school students and to find an effective method to improve it.The main method of this study are questionnaire and educational experiment.And the process of this study is fisrtly using the reading test to test Chinese reading ability of third-grade students,analyzing the current situation of the reading ability according to the statistical data,and then choosing the third-grade students of a primary school in Chongqing to carry on the experimental research,The experimental research is to design a program to improve the reading ability,and then to implement it to the experimental class in 11 weeks.The program is to classify the common reading genres of primary school students,and then to provide students the reading method correspondingly,stimulating their interest and cultivating reading habits.Diversified reading styles could stimulate interest,classification reading teaching could improve students' ability to understand and evaluate,and reading practice could improve students' literacy and utilizing ability.The results of this study are as follow:1.The characteristics of reading ability of third-grade primary school students in Chongqing are as follow:The reading ability of third-grade primary school students are at low to moderate level.The level of reading ability of girls is higher than that of boys.The reading ability of pupils who are interested in reading is higher than that of primary school students who are not.The reading ability of pupils who use reading methods are higher than those who do not.The reading ability of pupils who spend half an hour or more time on reading are higher than students who do not read every day.2.Reading training program can effectively enhance the reading ability of primary school students,and is of great significance to improve their reading interest and Chinese achievement.
