| Mathematics is closely related to our social production and daily life.With the development of society,more and more attention have been attached to the application of mathematics.While education is the foundation of country administration,it is critical to cultivate middle school students’ awareness and ability in the application of mathematics.However,there are still some deficiencies currently in the cultivation in the mathematical education of China.Some teachers have not paid much attention to the cultivation,while much more teachers have already realized that it’s important to cultivate students’ awareness and ability in the application of mathematics.However,under the pressure brought by the entrance examination to higher education,teachers usually have to take more traditional methods to guarantee the current teaching quality,focusing overly on students’ exam results instead of the cultivation in their awareness and ability in the application of mathematics.Nevertheless,the middle school students make great efforts to study mathematics everyday,while are lack of the awareness and ability in mathematical application,resulting in their incapacity to solve practical math problems in reality.They regard mathematics as a vapid subject which they study just for good exam performance instead of grasping and applying mathematical knowledge to real life.In consideration of the current situation and the problems mentioned above,taking the opportunity of previous teaching practice,the author does a research in some students and teachers about the status quo of middle school students’ awareness and ability in the application of mathematics,and finds the influence factors according to the analysis of the survey results.Then based on the teaching principles proposed by Freudenthal along with the constructivism and pragmatism theory in pedagogy,combining the review of previous literature,the author expounds the great significance of cultivating middle school students’awareness and ability in the application of mathematics.At last,according to the practical experience and the research,the author exerts an in-depth discussion from multiple perspectives of students,teachers,class and evaluation system,then proposes some practical strategies and teaching cases. |
