“The Old Man and the Sea”,as Hemingway's masterpiece,has aroused widespread concern of the academic community since published.At the beginning of 21 st century,"The Old Man and the Sea" came into the textbooks in middle school and high school.There are many research results on the literary appreciation and teaching interpretation of "The Old Man and the Sea".It is helpful for the readers to understand the text better if they understand the history of the literature appreciation of "The Old Man and the Sea" and the mainstream of today's research.It is beneficial for the teachers to have in-depth understanding of the teaching interpretation of "The Old Man and the Sea",which serves the teachers teacher practice and enhances their teaching skill.This thesis consists of five parts.Thefirst part is the introduction,briefly introduces Hemingway's life,writing style and the history of the acceptance of "The Old Man and the Sea" in China,and points out the research purpose,the research significance and the research method.The second part is the literature appreciation of "The Old Man and the Sea" in different periods,cut into three main periods,the "seventeen years period" in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China,the beginning of the reform and opening up to the beginning of the new century,and from 2000 to now.This part collects and sorts out historical data,sums up the research situation on "The Old Man and the Sea" from different scholars in different periods.The third part is the teaching interpretation of "The Old Man and the Sea" in the different versions of the textbooks.Two editions of textbooks are selected,namely Changchun Edition for middle school and PEP Edition for high school.The interpretation aims at the teaching design,paying attention to the set of teaching objectives,the selection of teaching methods,the organization of teaching process,which is combined with the specific analysis for typical teaching case,in order to avoid weaknesses,serving the daily teaching.The fourth part puts forward the original teaching designs on "The Old Man and the Sea".First,it explains the three principles of instructional design,and then puts forward three teaching design schemes.The first design aims at the PEP Edition textbook.The second one uses version comparison method to teach the students to compare the English version with different Chinese versions.The third one pays attention to reading the whole book.The fifth part is the conclusion,summarizes the research results of this thesis,and the inspiration obtained in the research process.
