With rapid development of urbanisation,expansion of urban and urban civilization become obvious.Rural depopulation and futher development of curriculum revolution puts forward the demand for rural schools to carry out the teaching of local culture.Relying on domestic and foreign literature,the thesis finds out that there's no much more study about teaching of local culture.As a result,the thesis tries to study the connotation and current situation of it to improve it's status and function.Relying on domestic and foreign literature,the thesis discusses connotation,values and feaures systematically.The teaching of local culture aims at growing love and identification of home villages and motherland,makes local culture as main content,leading students to study and get local cultural knowledge by the school and teachers purposefully,designedly and in an organized way.Teaching of local culture not only helps people to understand local culture,inspires students' love of hometown and motherl,but also provieds bridge for inheriting local culture and helps them to learn and get life experience and skills.Features of teaching of local culture includes four parts:affectional teaching objectives;local teaching contents;synthetic teaching methods and exploratory teaching process.The thesis investigates four rural middle schools by using the method of questionnaire investigation and interview,finding out some problems:neglect of teaching values by rural junior middle schools;shortage of local textbooks and contains much more urban civilization;single teaching forms and lacking of practical activities;lower enthusiasm of teachers;lack support of cultural environment.There are five reasons:examinations are misunderstood by rural middle schools;fewer farmers concentrating on local culture and causing it difficult to develop resources;lack of local cultural knowledge;utilitarian mechanism of appraisal of teacher;insufficient support from outside and insufficient education funds.The thesis offers five suggestions:connecting with enrollment examination system and guaranting class hours;compiling local textbooks and constructing network courses;improving teacher training;improving recruitment and evaluation mechanism of rural teachers;building cultual space in community by leading of schools.
