Homework is an indispensable part of English learning and teaching,for it is not only the reflection of teachers' teaching,but the reinforcement of students' learning.However,there are a great deal of deficiencies in the background of Chinese education system — the large scale of classes,students in the same class with different learning levels,heavy learning burden of students' and the ignorance of the importance of homework.Simultaneously,the Ministry of Education issued the reform of College Entrance Examination in 2016,in which it claimed that English test would be held twice every year.As English reform published,attention to English test was rising to unprecedented heights.Though some researchers at home made some investigation on the present situation of homework in senior high schools and provoked proposals,the efficiency of it is unobvious.Based on the previous studies,the thesis focuses on the present situation of homework in senior high schools.Questionnaire and interview are adopted in the thesis,whose emphases are the types of homework,students' feelings on homework and teachers' evaluation of homework.Therefore,the author chose 11 senior high schools in Sichuan to do the investigation.Firstly,students in these schools were asked to do the questionnaires,and the data were analyzed by SPSS system scientifically.Secondly,a certain number of English teachers in these schools were interviewed.No matter it is questionnaire or interview,the questions concentrate on the following three questions: 1.What is the present situation of English homework? And what are the factors that influence students to finish English homework in senior high school? 2.How does it correlate between different types school students' attitude on English homework and the time they spend on it? 3.How does it correlate between teachers' evaluation on students' homework and the situation students' finish English homework?According to results,there are many factors that influence students to spend time on homework.However,among all the factors,students' feeling on English homework and teachers' evaluation are the most important ones.As for students' feelings,it contains not onlystudents' learning interest and value recognition of English,but the four dimensions of students' subject attitudes—pleasure,autonomy,importance and application of English.According to the results,the author selectively analyzes students' feelings on English homework and teachers' evaluation so that some advice about the optimization design after the English reform of College Entrance Examination can be raised.First,homework should be stratified for different learning levels and types of students.Second,besides traditional types of homework,other types can be designed such as listening and speaking,practical exercises and online homework.Furthermore,teachers should strengthen evaluation system by three ways: picking up excellent works,peer assessment and using modern technologies to inspect and supervise students' learning.
