Reading aloud is not only a kind of traditional teaching method,but also a kind of reading method.It is widely used by language learners and teachers for a long time.With the latest curriculum reform on the elementary education gives the English teaching a new challenge and opportunity.The English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education which was issued in 2011 by the Chinese Ministry of Education shows that the overall goal of English course is to develop basic skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing and cultivate students' comprehensive language application ability.Reading aloud teaching plays a more and more important role in English teaching.However,in rural junior high school teaching,many teachers do not attach importance to reading aloud in class teaching.There are some problems existing in English reading aloud teaching of rural junior high school in our country.For example,in order to meet the demands of the high school entrance examination;mother tongue interference;the students lack listening input and so on.Reading aloud is ignored by teachers and students in different degrees.The reason is that: 1.Teachers and students spend little time on reading aloud.2.Teachers pay a little attention to reading skills.3.The reading level of students is poor.Therefore,it is urgent to explore the essence and significance of reading aloud.We must find practical and effective strategies for modern English teaching.This study through the questionnaire and scores are tested in order to answer the following questions: 1.Whether teacher's directions are helpful to improve students' scores or not during morning reading? 2.Whether teacher's directions have an influence on students' concepts and habits during morning reading? This study selected one junior high school in Shenxian,Liaocheng.During the period,Class 1 was taught as an experimental class and Class 2 was taught as controlled class.The training model of reading aloud designed by the author was integrated into the English teaching in the experimental groups,while the control groups were taught in a regular way.This experiment lasts for 12 weeks.Before the experiment,a questionnaire was designed to collect information on the subjects by using the reading aloud strategy and a comprehensive pre-test was administered.During the experiment,two classes would input the same materials.Reading aloud training for the students in the experimental group,control group in conventional teaching.Then,the participants took part in a post-test after the training.All the data was analyzed by using SPSS22.0.The major findings of the present study are as followings: 1.The general situation of junior students' English reading aloud is not optimistic.2.Reading aloud plays an important role in English teaching.In the post-test,students' ability of listening,speaking,reading and writing improves a lot.3.The results show that experimental group and control group have significant distinction.
