The Study Of Case Work Intervention On Social Adaptation Of Military Retired Cadres

An applied study of social work has been done in this paper on social adaptation of military retired cadres.Based on almost three months of my intership experience in the H military sanatorium,this paper concludes some social adaptation problems of military retired cadres and analyses some reasons for these by unstructured interviews,participant observation and literature reviews.A case is selected and intervened by case work in this study in order to evaluate the effectiveness of case work for social adaptation of military retired cadres.Social adaptation problems of military retired cadres are mainly manifested in the following aspects: physical conditions are getting poor;interpersonal groups are mainly confined to the past comrades;past military merits gradually fade;the sense of honor gradually disappears;loneliness often appears;be reliant on their organizations;the sense of self-value gradually fells with their less social participation.The main reasons for these are as follows: great role conversion,insufficient social support,weak family emotional connections,high level of special psychological needs and current military service management level.For all these social adaptation problems of military retired cadres,this paper uses case work to intervene the selected case to explore the effectiveness of this method.Case evaluation shows that some social adaptation issues of the case has been solved effectively by establishing good professional relationship with the case,evaluating his conditions,making a plan in terms of his needs and intervening through five specific sessions.By reflecting the whole process,this paper suggests thatthe approach to entering into the fields,the ways,the contents,andthe focus of intervention are all some special for this intervention.Case work is suitable for military retired cadres while intervening their social adaptation.
