Research On Social Work Intervention Of Rural Left-behind Children's Sexual Safety

The number of left-behind children in rural China has reached more than 60 million.In recent years,sexual abuse cases of left-behind children exposed by the media have been growing.The issue of sexual safety has become one of the major threats faced by left-behind children in rural areas.It is necessary and urgent for the social work intervention of rural left-behind children to be safe.This study relies on the project of “Stay-in-the-child,accompanied by growth” in the L City X Social Work Service Center to carry out social work practices on child safety in the Y town.The research used questionnaires,interviews,and participatory observation methods to conduct surveys on 110 left-behind children in Y town,L city,and 12 rural left-behind children,5 guardians of left-behind children,and 2 Y residents.The social worker conducted an interview.Based on the results of the study,using Maslow's Demand Theory and Empowerment Theory as a guide,and using group social work as a basic method,established a strategy to increase the children's sexual safety knowledge,increase the awareness of left-behind children's sexual safety,and improve the child's sexual safety prevention skills.Throughout the intervention process,social workers record each activity in detail and evaluate the process and results of the activity.Through the investigation and intervention of left-behind children in Y town,this study draws the following conclusions:1.Situation of left-behind children's sexual safety: Left-behind Children in Y town have insufficient understanding of the basic knowledge of sexual safety,and they have not yet established awareness of sexual safety protection and lack of sexual safety prevention skills.2.Analysis of the current situation of left-behind children's sexual safety: The status of children's sexual safety in Y town is not optimistic.It can be attributed to: lack of family safety education,lack of school-based safety education,and avoidance of community-based safety education.3.The intervention effects of left-behind children's sexual safety: The social work involved in left-behind children's sexual safety has a very important theoretical significance and practical value.The results of the study showed that through participation in group activities,12 left-behind children gained increased knowledge of sexual safety,increased awareness of sexual safety,and increased skills for sexual safety prevention.4.Outlook on children's sexual safety for left-behind children: The prevention of children's sexual safety requires not only the intervention and efforts of social work,but also the establishment of a supportive system of tripartite linkages among families,schools,and communities.
