In recent years,cases of sexual assault on left-behind girls have continued to increase throughout the country.In 2019,the media publicly reported 301 cases of sexual assault on children,with 807 victims,of which rural left-behind girls accounted for more than 60%.Sexual safety has become a rural left-behind issue.One of the important threats facing girls.Due to the influence of factors such as deep traditional concepts in rural areas,low education level of guardians,insufficient school teaching resources and other factors,the sex safety education for left-behind girls in rural areas has not been put on the agenda.Therefore,professional social workers intervene in sex safety education for left-behind girls in rural areas.Very urgent and important.This paper is based on the needs of rural left-behind girls’ sexual safety education,based on the “Hand in Hand and Happy Growth” rural left-behind children’s care and protection project of C Social Work Service Center in City B,using questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews.The left-behind girls in Village F of the city conducted an in-depth investigation and found that the left-behind girls have the following four needs: 1.Know their own physical needs;2.Understand the needs of adolescent physiological hygiene knowledge;3.Correctly deal with the needs of interacting with the opposite sex;4.Learning The need for self-protection and prevention skills.According to the needs of left-behind girls for sex safety education,the author adopts empowerment theory and social learning theory as guidance to recruit 12 girls,aged between9-13 years old,and established the “Sexual Safety Education Group for Left-behind Girls in the Flower Protection Action”.The main goal is to increase left-behind girls’ knowledge of sexual safety,enhance their awareness of sexual safety,and improve their self-protection capabilities.Activities are carried out using interactive games,watching videos,knowledge questions and answers,and situational presentations,and comprehensive evaluation of the process and results of the activities.The results of the study show that through the six group activities,the group members’ sex safety knowledge,sex safety awareness,and sex safety prevention skills have been greatly improved.On this basis,the author proposes that social workers can serve as advocates,educators,and resource linkers of sex safety education,integrating multiple resources,and calling for the promotion of sex safety education throughout the society to jointly protect the sex safety of left-behind girls.
