In recent years, the slogans of founding research universities have been mentioned by Chinese universities repeatedly. The construction of a number of high-level research universities is an inevitable trend for the further development of higher education in China. The environment and soil for China is necessary to produce world-class universities. With the advent of research universities, various independent research centers have emerged.Such as: Institute of Social Science Survey,iSSS;National Survey Research Center at Renmin University of China,NSRC;The Social Science Experiment Center of Zhejiang University, ect. The operation and management of each center is not only subject to colleges, but also different from colleges. All of them are exploring a set of suitable management modes for themselves in their respective development processes.Based on previous study on university research institutions, this paper takes X Center as an example to carry out research on the management mode of independent academic research center of XXX University.According to the positioning of X Center and its own characteristics, the questionnaire was designed to collect employee's dissatisfaction with the current management mode of X Center,as well as the corresponding opinions and suggestions.Based on this, find out problems which X Center has in the management. While carrying out a questionnaire survey within the X Center, there are also visits to various departments to supplement the information that cannot be reflected or covered in the questionnaire.Through the use of questionnaires to diagnose the X center's current management mode,we find out the inadequacies and analyze the deficiencies, and finally put forward measures to improve the deficiencies. The management mode can be roughly divided into: traditional/hierarchical,interpersonal,systematic,and modern humanistic management. The X Center has relatively complete seven strategic systems such as strategic vision management, work responsibility division, compensation design, performance management,recruitment,full-time training, and employee career planning. In the framework of this systematic management mode, the X Center's management focuses on the organization's integrity and purpose, emphasizing the overall coordination among people, between people and departments, departments and departments, and implementing collaborative and interactive management of employees. In this paper, through the application of the learned knowledge,we use the current situation of the X Center's management mode as the starting point to conduct diagnosis, and classify its problems, and further analyze them, and put forward suggestions for improvement. The survey found that the X Center has the following problems in the management mode: the powers and responsibilities are unclear, staggered management among the leaders, the organizational system is not perfect, and the implementation is unfair. The problems in personnel development are: career development paths of employees in this center are unclear, unfair competition for promotion of employees, and unsound staff training mechanisms. The problems in the “corporate culture” are: heavy overtime work, poor inter-departmental cooperation, polarization of the guidance that superiors give to subordinate, the psychological contract between the employee and the leadership has not been achieved.Based on this diagnostic result, combined with the guiding ideology of improving the X center management mode, this paper proposes solutions to improve the organizational structure and system, improve personnel development management methods, and optimize the identified "corporate culture".In order to achieve the development goals of the X Center,we will cultivate the ability of continuous development and contribute more valuable data and research reports and related academic information to the industry, political circles and academia.
