In recent years, contradictions between the population and land are becoming increasingly severe. One of the effective methods to address this problem is to conduct land remediation. Land remediation is able to increase the effective area of cultivated land, and heightened the land production capacity, improving the water infrastructure and transportation infrastructure of the farmland that is under land remediation. The economic situation of the land remediation area can be promoted as well, meanwhile improving the ecology landscape. Guidance and references, associated with projects of the land remediation, can be provided by estimating the potential of land remediation, making the benefits of land remediation maximally fulfilled.This paper mainly studies the area in Nipo town, Xide County. Current situation of this region concerned with natural geography, social economy, and the land use as well as existing problems are analyzed. The feasibility of land remediation are discussed in 8 aspects including ground slope, soil fertility, sunlight and heat condition, traffic condition, et al. The analytic result has indicated that it is suitable for land remediation in this region. The source of land remediation potentials of this region is analyzed, including quantity potential, quality potential and potential of ecology landscape.Based on the analysis of current situation of the studied region, and combing with domestic researches related to this issue, an evaluation system is constructed with respect to 13 evaluation quota, which are picked from natural conditions, basic conditions, social economic conditions, and conditions of ecology landscape, including ground slope, soil quality, p H value, level of concentration plots, water infrastructure, water resource status, traffic situation, investment on per unit area, investment on newly-added farmland, et al. By utilizing the analytic hierarchy process, the weight of each quota is confirmed. The calculation result indicates that the potential value of land remediation is 3.1456, outranging the standard value 3, which is calculated based on earthquake stricken area in Wenchuan, Sichuan province, with the algorithm of land remediation reclamation standard. The calculation result demonstrates that the studied region has the potential of land remediation. Meanwhile, assessment on all the evaluation standards of the studied area, with the aid of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, has concluded that the maximum membership grade of the natural condition is 0.38(level B), while the potential value of land remediation is on Level II. The maximum membership grade of basic conditions, social economic conditions, and conditions of ecology landscape is 0.36(level C), 0.32(level C), and 0.37(level B) respectively, with the potential value of land remediation on Level III, Level III, and Level II accordingly, from which can be concluded that the studied region has the potential for land remediation. The same conclusions of the studied area are drawn via two separate analytic methods, which demonstrate the potential of land remediation.
