UK Study Tour Accompanied By Interpretation Practice Report

This interpretation practice report is based on the project of escort interpreting of the British tour study.The author of the report?hereafter shortened as“the author”?is the group leader from Overseas Travel Department of Harbin New Oriental School.She introduces the interpreting task,i.e.,the author took the Chinese students'study tour group to London local Rossall Middle School for a week of class and visiting University of Cambridge and University of Oxford,as well as some famous scenic spots from the 5^th to 20^th of August in 2015.In the process of completing the task,the author not only acted as the escort interpreter,but also assisted the local guide with the related matters and the students with their everyday life.During the process of the interpreting task in the UK,the author became more and more aware of the difficulty of interpreting.The differences between Chinese and Western cultures pose big challenges to the task of interpreter on the part of the interpreter.At the same time,the author can get plentiful experiences and exercises in practicing and improving interpretation.After the completion of the task,the author has made a thorough review of the task and a summary of interpreting experience and deficiencies.The author selects typical cases in the process of interpreting as the object of analysis,and analyzes different situations in the process of escort interpreting.In addition,the author discusses the translation strategies and principles to cope with these situations.The author sincerely wishes that the report could be used in the future practice and be of some help to others who learn and engage in escort interpretation.
