Tang Poetry, Song Poetry, and Sanqu, have their own unique literature value. Sanqu, as a representative art of the literature, has immortal literary value. But in current Chinese teaching situations, the teaching of Sanqu has not been emphasized equally as it deserved. There are many reasons for this phenomenon. For one hand, many of teachers use the method of Song Poetry teaching instead of the teaching way of Sanqu, which leading to Sanqu's stylistic features is be neglected. For the other hand, many teachers lack of the knowledge of Sanqu, which naturally contribute to the difficulties in Sanqu teaching. Then, how the Sanqu should be taught in a more proper way? The method of close reading inspire us largely. It advocates the following: text-centered way of comprehension, grasping stylistic features, giving equal consideration to authors and readers, choosing the close reading strategy according to different stylistic features, understanding the multilayered structures of text and so on. Therefore, this paper summarized several views under the current curriculum context based on the theories of British and American New Criticism as well as Chinese ancient and contemporary close reading. These views should be helped in directing the middle school Chinese Sanqu teaching and guiding textual writing. In this paper I mainly discussed from the following five parts:The first part, introduction. In this part, I mainly discuss three aspects. They are reason and significance of the topic, literature review, research approach and methods of this paper.The second part, I analyze of the present situation of the Sanqu teaching and the reasons for it in middle school. In this part, I overview the origin and the development of Sanqu, including the literary value and teaching value. Then, I describe the existing problems and reasons of Sanqu teaching from the perspectives of contents selecting and teaching methods. At last, I draw forth the topic of this paper namely, close reading of the text can solve the problems of current Sanqu teaching.The third part, I discuss that whether it is possible for close reading apply in Sanqu teaching. In this part, firstly, I shortly overview the method of close reading of the western, Chinese ancient and modern times. Then we try to summarize the close reading under the curriculum context, which guide greatly on current teaching of Sanqu. Last, I discussed that it is feasible for close teaching to be used in Sanqu teaching form the value and stylistic features of Sanqu.The fourth part, which is also the most important part of this paper, is the strategic analysis about the application of the close reading used in Sanqu teaching. In this part, I specifically discusses the application of the close reading used in Chinese middle school Sanqu teaching from the whole style, language, emotion and details, basing on relevant theoretical methods and combing the characteristics of Sanqu.The fifth part is the summary. I generalize the research views and deficiencies of this paper.The close reading method provide us with feasible theoretical support and instruments for deeply interpreting Sanqu text and for better Sanqu teaching. Therefore, I hope this paper could offer some theoretical supports and guidance to Sanqu teaching in middle school.
