O.Henry is a famous American short story writer in the early twentieth Century.His 4 works have been selected in the Chinese textbooks,there are still a number of versions of textbooks in the selection of his works.Thus,the significance of his work is not only confined to the literary value of the work itself,but also to its teaching value.This paper starts from the angle of teaching Chinese education,one of the "target language curriculum standards based on reading and appreciation",will appear in the Chinese textbook of O.Henry works out,and focus on the contents of " After Twenty Years " and "The Gift of the Magi" were combing literature research and teaching research in mining.Better dissemination of the works of O.Henry.This paper consists of three parts: introduction,body and conclusion of the content.The introduction part explains the reason and significance of this thesis,both from the perspective of literature about the positive significance of the study of O.Henry's works in Chinese textbooks,and the necessity of O.Henry language textbook was discussed from the aspects of education.Secondly,it is clear that the research object of this thesis is that all the works of O Henry appeared in the textbooks of our country,and probes into the reasons and rules of selecting and deleting the works of O Henry.Finally,the introduction part also describes the research status and development trend of the research topic,in order to provide reference for the teaching of Henry's works.The text consists of three chapters,the first chapter focus on the study of textbook of O.Henry's works.Starting from the original editions of the textbook text and textbook of Shanghai edition.Try to find the difference and similarities of the arrangement features of "After Twenty Years" in Chinese Textbook and the original foreign textbooks and different and differences.The content of the next chapter is the interpretation of the text and the determination of teaching content.The last chapter analyzes the teaching cases of "After Twenty Years " and the suggestions on the teaching of O.Henry's works and short stories.The conclusion part summarizes the whole,once again affirmed the important position of O.Henry's works in the textbooks and the positive significance of teaching.
