Reading the entire book was put forward by shengtao Ye as early as in the 1840 s.In recent years,the call for "reading the entire book" has become increasingly popular.In the forthcoming unified textbooks,the entire book reading will also be included in the teaching plan.The novel excerpts as a link linking in-class reading and extracurriculum reading have a non-negligible role in stimulating students’ interest in reading and reading the entire book.How to combine the teaching of the excerpts of novels with the reading instruction of the entire book in the framework of the existing teaching materials,and it is possible to better teach novel texts by supplementing the original content,and to select texts through novels.Teaching makes sense for students’ interest in reading the entire book and the ability to develop students’ reading of novels.This article is based on the excerpts of novels in the high school Chinese language teaching edition of the People’s Education Press.It attempts to combine the reading of the whole book with the teaching of the excerpts from the novels.The paper is divided into four chapters:The first chapter combs the idea and practical significance of the whole book reading concept.This chapter is divided into two parts: The first part analyzes the process of the development of the whole book reading concept from the earlier book “Reading the Book” concept proposed by Shengtao Ye and the requirement of reading the entire book.The second part analyzes the negative influence of the current class of excerpts of selected texts,and shows that the current class of excerpts from the novel needs to point to the whole book for reading.The second chapter clarifies the relationship between the excerpted texts of the novels and the reading of the whole book,and shows that it is important and feasible to combine novel excerpted texts with the whole book reading in the Chinese teaching of high school.This chapter is divided into two parts: The first part makes use of Modern Chinese Dictionary and Education Dictionary to clarify the connotation of the selected texts of novels.The second part analyzes the relationship between the selected texts of novels and textbooks from two aspects: The analysis of the textbooks summarizes the particularity of the excerpts of the texts;attempts are made to analyze the basis for the selected excerpts of the novels.The third chapter analyzes the status quo of the excerpted texts in fiction.This chapter is divided into three parts,and the author’s questionnaire is used to analyze the acceptance of novel reading by high school students,the implementation of the selected texts by teachers,and the acceptability of selected texts in novels.The fourth chapter combines the specific texts and current related researches,and elaborates the teaching strategies of the selected class-selected texts directed at the entire book.This chapter is divided into four parts: The first part can stimulate students’ interest in reading the entire book through the rational use of multimedia facilities and setting up questions that lead to thinking.The second part can use skimming,skipping,and quick reading to guide reading methods.The third part also needs to pay attention to the student’s entire book reading evaluation.The fourth part of the novel class selection of the text needs to be organically combined with the original whole,expounded that the supplement of the original content should be combined with the teaching unit teaching purpose,and should help to highlight the breakthroughs in the selection of text teaching,and should help deepen students’ understanding of the excerpted texts.
