An Empirical Study On The Evolution Of Mango Production In China

In the past 20 years, the mango industry in China has developed rapidly, which has played an important role in increasing local farmers' income and the adjustment of agricultural structure in the major provinces. The data during2002 to 2015 shows that Hainan,Guangxi, Yunnan and Sichuan, the 4 provinces of mango acreage has increased to varying degrees,and Guangxi,Yunnan and Sichuan have a higher growth rate. In contrast to the 4 provinces, the Fujian Province, which the planting area has remained basically unchanged and the planting area has been shrinking and becoming stable in Guangdong province. Compared with 20 years ago, at that time, Guangdong was China's most important mango producing areas,has maintained a larger scale since 1990s. And in 2000, with the continuous development of mango in Sichuan province and the rapid development of Hainan mango,mango industry in Guangdong gradually lost its dominant position. 1998?2005 and 2005 afterwards, these two periods are the period of the development of mango industry in China.The layout of production is gradually concentrated and transferred to the areas with few non-agricultural employment opportunities, low labor costs and fewer pests and diseases.There is no doubt that China's mango industry is facing tremendous changes. It is of great significance to understand the characteristics and inherent laws of the development and change of mango industry in China, and to optimize the distribution of mango industry in China and to further optimize and improve the market competitiveness. This paper combines theoretical analysis with empirical research, first is to describe the advantages of mango China regional distribution and classification of the system, the development history of the national mango, mainly from the end of the two planting area and total yield index of the development characteristics of China's various areas, to sort out the mango, using production concentration index,the production scale index and the regional comparative advantage index to summarize the development stage and layout of mango industry. Through the regression analysis of panel data, we find out the influencing factors and the influence direction of mango industry layout. The results showed that the change of mango production in China was the result of natural environment, technical level and social economic conditions and policies.The natural environment and the level of technology is the premise and foundation of the evolution of the mango production, also the constraint. Social and economic conditions and policy factors are the decisive factors of China's mango production layout changes.On the basis of theoretical analysis and empirical research, this study suggests that adjusting the mango planting structure, strengthening disaster prevention and controlling system construction, the implementation of mango deep processing strategy, improving the storage and transportation facilities, give full play to local advantages according to the comparative advantage of mango industry layout are the effective ways to enhance market competitiveness.
