Today, with the increasing environmental problems, global climate change has become the focus of attention all over the world. In the "three carriages" investment, consumption and export that promote economic growth, household consumption has become a new economic growth point, the problems of energy consumption and carbon emissions causing by this have been paid more and more attention.China is facing the pressure from the international community to reduce emission and its own resources and environment. How to coordinate the contradiction between expanding consumption and energy saving and emission reduction is the key to solve the problem. As one of the backward provinces in Western China,Gansu has a low level of urbanization and a great potential for development, the contradiction between consumption and energy conservation will exist for a long time. Therefore, calculating the consumption of carbon emissions, analyzing the main factors influencing the consumption of carbon emissions, providing some countermeasures and suggestions of low carbon consumption, will have great significance for the future development of low carbon economy in Gansu province. This paper takes Gansu Province as an example, using the residents consumption expenditure and consumption of energy and other aspects of the data from 1995 to 2014 in Gansu province.Based on the analysis of the consumption level, consumption structure and energy consumption structure, using the direct coefficient method and input-output method on the consumption of residents to calculate the direct and indirect carbon emissions in Gansu Province and using the index decomposition method decomposes the influence factors of residents direct carbon emissions, the results are as follows:(1)The per capita consumption level of Gansu residents showed a trend of accelerated growth, increasing from 3532.99 yuan in 1995 to 20779 yuan in 2014.From the growth point of view, mainly divided into three stages, from 1995 to 1998,the growth rate is relatively slow, with the average annual growth of 152.44 yuan;from 1998 to 2010,the growth rate increased significantly, with the average annual growth of 399.46 yuan;from 2010 to 2014,the growth rate faster than in previous years, with the average annual growth of 820.41 yuan.In terms of consumption structure, the proportion of urban and rural residents in food consumption expenditure is the highest, but they are constantly decreasing.(2)From the perspective of residents' energy consumption structure, coal consumption accounts for the largest proportion, but the overall decline trend, from 73.97% in 1995 to 27.58% in 2014.While the percentage of natural gas, diesel, electricity consumption significantly increased, especially diesel, the proportion of consumption growth, increased from 5.32% in 1995 to 39.75% in 2014,more than coal consumption, became the first major energy sources of energy consumption of residents in Gansu province and the proportion of natural gas consumption was the fastest growth.(3)The direct carbon emissions of residents in Gansu province showed a trend of fluctuation. From 4 million 200 thousand tons in 1995 to 9 million 732 thousand tons in 2014,an increase of 5 million 532 thousand tons.Carbon emission from coal consumption is the main carbon emission source of household energy consumption, while carbon emissions from electricity and diesel increase the fastest.(4)The largest proportion in the indirect carbon emissions is "food" and "living" consumer spending, food consumption in 1997 accounted for the largest proportion.By 2007,housing consumption has become the largest proportion of indirect carbon emissions items. The proportion of food consumption expenditure between urban and rural residents is decreasing, and both of them have similar consumption structure. In addition, the consumption of urban and rural residents has shown that the proportion of "service type" has risen, while the proportion of "food consumption" has dropped the same trend.(5)In the consumption of direct carbon emission factors decomposition analysis, the level of per capita consumption expenditure of urban and rural structure change, population change and population scale change always has a positive effect. The energy consumption structure changes in most of the time period for the negative effect, while energy prices, energy consumption proportion change in volatility, but overall positive effect. The main reason for the rapid growth of the direct carbon emissions of residents in Gansu province is the increase of per capita consumption, while the change of energy prices is the main reason for the direct carbon emissions reduction of residents in Gansu province.
