Stoas are often regarded as less important parts in the gardens,but they are some of the most special elements in Chinese gardens.Only in Chinese classical gardens,especially in a large number of private gardens,can the diversity of the Stoas be fully displayed.What makes the stoa a significant element in garden design is the affection of Chinese literati.The Private Gardens of Southern Changjiang Delta can be regarded as the representative of literati garden.Jiangnan is also where some of the ancient gardens survived.Therefore,the author mainly chooses The Gardens of Southern Changjiang Delta and its stoas as the research objects to sort out the spatial and cultural characteristics of the stoas.And apply these theories to the restoration of the ancient Gardens of Southern Changjiang Delta,which had disappeared.The author's research materials include garden records,poems,couplets,plaques,biographies,description of the signs,epitaphs,local Chronicles,Calligraphies and paintings,murals,paintings of utensils,Satellite pictures,photography,video,etc.The author conducted restoration research on the famous ancient garden,the Plum Blossom Garden.The result of the restoration will be shown in an airview of Chinese Ink-Wash Painting.
